Safety tips
MeetPlayRepeat helps you plan get-togethers with people you may not know well yet. Events are organized by members, not by us, so a little planning goes a long way. These tips are general guidance, not a guarantee of safety.
Before you go
- Look at the group and the host. Check their profiles, how long the group has been active, and what other members say.
- Meet in public first. When you don't know people yet, choose a café, park, game store or other public place before meeting in someone's home.
- Tell someone your plans. Share where you're going, who you're meeting and when you expect to be back.
- Plan your own way there and home. Have your own transportation, or a ride you trust, so you can leave whenever you want.
At the event
- Trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, leave. You never owe anyone an explanation.
- Keep an eye on your drink. Don't leave it unattended, and don't accept drinks you didn't see poured.
- Drink responsibly. Know your limits, and never drink and drive.
- Keep valuables with you. Bring only what you need.
Protect your information
- Share personal details at your own pace. You don't have to give anyone your home address, workplace or phone number.
- Hosts can hide the address. An event can keep its address hidden until someone RSVPs.
- Keep conversations in the app until you're comfortable moving them elsewhere.
Money
- Pay members directly, through a service you trust. MeetPlayRepeat doesn't collect, hold or move money between members, and we take no cut.
- Event fees cover shared costs only, such as food, supplies or a venue, and never alcohol.
- Shared pots follow strict rules. Everyone taking part is 21 or older, everyone plays on equal terms, and every dollar put in is paid back out to players.
- Be wary of anyone asking for money for reasons unrelated to an event, or asking you to pay outside the group's usual methods.
If you're hosting
- Know who's coming. Use RSVPs and capacity limits so you know who to expect.
- Keep your space safe. Clear trip hazards, know where exits and first-aid supplies are, and follow any house or venue rules.
- If alcohol is served, follow the law: no serving minors or anyone visibly intoxicated, and no selling alcohol.
Report and block
- Report anything that worries you. You can report messages, photos, profiles, groups and events in the app. We review reports within 24 hours.
- Block anyone you don't want to hear from. Go to their profile and choose Block. You can see and manage blocked people in Settings → Privacy.
